Another Snake Story VN
(C) James J Alonzo
While in Viet Nam, on patrol, our squad entered a small hamlet or village. J J and I spotted two Vietnamese kids about 8 years old, playing with a snake that i recognized as a baby cobra!
One kid would be squatting in front of the snake to get its attention and the other squatting would grab its tail and flip it toward the other kid. Then they would reverse roles and repeat the process, laughing and giggling at the snakes antics.
As I stood watching with J J, he asked me,
"Damn isn't that a poisonous snake those kids are playing with?"
"Yep", I answered, "but don't worry, its a baby one so the bite won't be so bad. They'll kill it when they are tired, and their mama will cook it."
